Writer: Johnson Behavioral Health GroupJohnson Behavioral Health Group

Once again, it’s Mardi Gras season!

Johnson Behavioral Health Group wouldn’t want to miss this opportunity to join the fun and participate in the celebration. This year, the highly anticipated event in Shreveport occurred on March 2, 2025, in the scenic Highland Historic District, known for its charming streets and rich cultural heritage.

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is a vibrant celebration with roots in ancient European traditions. It marks the final day of feasting before the Christian season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

CEO Abigail Johnson was at the forefront of this initiative to participate in the parade to represent JBHG and was passionate about serving the community’s mental health needs and celebrating its vibrant culture. She was also joined by her family, Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Ashley Fell, and friends—all of whom have been instrumental in organizing this event. Their collective enthusiasm and dedication ensured that this parade would be a memorable experience for everyone involved. It became a huge success and brought more than a rewarding feeling!

In addition to the parade, JBHG prepared meaningful and relevant throws and giveaways like motivational cards, educational supplies, motivational pins, brownies, and more, where attendees can learn more about the importance of mental health, the organization’s objectives and services, and receive educational materials. This outreach effort aimed to foster awareness and understanding of the importance of mental wellness and emphasized that health and happiness can be intertwined with community engagement and support.

Leading up to the parade, the JBHG team poured their passion to designing and assembling an eye-catching float that reflects the spirit of Mardi Gras. The float was adorned with a dazzling array of colorful decorations featuring traditional purple, green, and gold hues representing justice, faith, and power.

A huge THANK YOU to all our friends, family, and supporters for making this year’s Mardi Gras celebration unforgettable! 💜💚💛

Your energy, love, and excitement made our participation in the Krewe of Highland Parade even more special. We truly appreciate your support and can’t wait to celebrate with you again next year! Until the next Mardi Gras—let the good times roll! 🎭
